Warning about unsealed roads

Recent major rain events have impacted on the condition of Council’s unsealed road network across the Bega Valley.

Friday 8 July 2016

Recent major rain events have impacted on the condition of Council’s unsealed road network across the Bega Valley.

Council has been undertaking remedial road grading throughout the Shire, before resuming routine maintenance operations.

Unfortunately due to the continuing poor weather and saturated materials, some of these recently graded roads have deteriorated further or become slippery and difficult to navigate.

Council has limited ability to carry out further works on many of these roads, until the prevailing conditions improve.

All users of unsealed gravel roads are urged to slow down, drive to the conditions, avoid boggy areas and where possible use alternative routes.  If travel can be deferred, please do so.

Please continue to report specific hazards to Council on 6499 2222.
