2023 Citizen of the Year, Philippa Street accepting her award from Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick
18 October 2023
Nominations are open for the Bega Valley Shire’s 2024 Citizen, Young Citizen (under 25s) and Senior Citizen (over 65s) of the Year and Bega Valley Medallion awards.
Bega Valley Shire Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick is calling on people to recognise the efforts of friends, neighbours, colleagues and family.
“It’s that time of year to reflect on the last 12 months and acknowledge Bega Valley Shire’s inspiring community members and reward their efforts,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.
“With a population of about 36,000, we know there are many deserving people in our community who do wonderful things that often go unnoticed.
“This could be a friend, someone in a community organisation or sports club or someone you know doing great work serving the community.
“Being nominated for an Australian Day Award is a great honour and a wonderful opportunity to appreciate our outstanding community members.”
Nominations should include information about a person’s service to the community or of a distinguished performance over the past 12 months.
To nominate someone, visit Council’s website, email council@begavalley.nsw.gov.au or deliver nominations to any Council office by 30 November 2023.
