With Bega Valley Shire Council now directly operating Bega War Memorial Pool, pool users can register their interest in learn-to-swim, squad training and aqua classes, in preparation for the upcoming swim season.
Council’s Aquatic and Leisure Facilities Coordinator, Nicholas Hoynes said recruitment has been underway to staff Council-managed swimming pools over recent months for various roles.
“Our recruitment efforts are critical to program delivery and availability,” Mr Hoynes said.
“Registering your interest in upcoming programs helps with our ongoing staff recruitment and program scheduling, and it allows us to provide direct updates to interested participants and families.
“Once the pool opens at the end of September, we will also hold sessions to assist with evaluating participants for our different program levels and enrolments.
“We are also working with local schools to determine their program needs in preparation for summer school swimming programs.
“Programs are dependent on having sufficient qualified staff members to meet participant numbers.
“During this transition period, as Council begins operating the site, we may need to modify the program structure, criteria or delivery from previous years. We thank the community for their patience as we work through this with our available staff, recruitment and resources.
To assist with ongoing recruitment, Council has worked with registered training organisations to deliver courses locally, including accessing funding for eligible participants.
The following training courses are coming up at Sapphire Aquatic Centre in Pambula Beach (unless stated otherwise):
*Funding opportunities available for eligible participants
