Get tested if you have covid symptoms.9 September 2021

NSW Health has today confirmed two positive cases of COVID-19 have been identified in Merimbula.

Contact tracing is ongoing, with information about venues of concern to be communicated by NSW Health as soon as possible.

Bega Valley Shire Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said it was important for members of the community across the shire to remain vigilant and get tested.

“If you have any cold or flu like symptoms, no matter how mild, please get tested and self-isolate until you receive a negative result,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“And of course, following the stay-at-home order and practising physical distancing, wearing a mask and using QR codes to check in when you do need to go out are vital to help keep our community safe.”

Cr Fitzpatrick said Council services will remain available through phone and online services, while essential work such as children’s services, road repairs, waste services, public toilet maintenance and keeping our water and sewer network operating effectively will continue.

“We will continue to monitor the situation and adapt as required.

“As a result of the confirmed, active cases in the community, the NSW Government  has confirmed that Bega Valley Shire will remain in lockdown beyond 10 September.”
