4 April 2022

Auckland Street in Bega will be closed between High Street and Upper Street from late afternoon Friday 8 to Friday 22 April to allow contractors to upgrade the existing school crossing.

Full road closure will come into effect after all school buses have left the designated works area.

All traffic will detour via High, Gipps and Upper streets.

Affected residents on Auckland Street will be permitted access their properties via Auckland Street under Local Traffic Only conditions.

This means residents are permitted to pass the road closure signs and barriers, to enter the closed section of road in advance of the work area in order to reach their intended destination.

The University of Wollongong Bega Campus and the Salvation Army will also remain accessible under Local Traffic Only conditions, however all access will be via the Upper and Auckland streets intersection.

The upgrade of the crossing is jointly funded by the NSW and Australian governments as part of the NSW Government Road Safety Program, School Zone Infrastructure Sub Program to improve the safety of school children.
