Bega Valley Shire Council’s audited financial statements for the 2020-21 Financial Year are available for public review and will be presented to Councillors for noting at the 9 February 2022 Council meeting.

The statements were made publicly available later than usual due to an extension requested by the Audit Office and approved by the Office of Local Government. The deadline for finalising the statements was moved to 30 November 2021.

The NSW Local Government Elections on 4 December made noting the financial statements last year impossible due to a seven-day public notice requirement that clashed with the early December election date.

Acting CEO, Anthony McMahon said the circumstances were beyond Council’s control.

“We acknowledge this delay, and we made the audited financial statements available at the earliest possible date through our Annual Report on Monday 6 December,” Mr McMahon said.

“Now the new Council is sworn in, we are able to proceed with notifying the public of the financial results and formally presenting them at the 9 February Council meeting.”

The audited financial statements, including the auditor’s reports, are available on Council’s website at https://begavalley.nsw.gov.au/performance-reports

Copies are also available for inspection at the customer service centre at Zingel Place and all Bega Valley Shire libraries.

Public submissions can be provided in writing to council@begavalley.nsw.gov.au by COB 16 February 2022.
