Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking community feedback on 13 Council policies, in line with the requirements of the Local Government Act 1993.

CEO Anthony McMahon said the 13 polices will be placed on public exhibition for 28 days.

“Council adopted the second batch of policies at its meeting this week and agreed to the public exhibition of the fifth and final batch,” Mr McMahon said.

“Feedback from the community on Batch 2 policies resulted in an addition to the Community Engagement Policy and a review consideration for the Climate Change Policy.

“Public exhibition of Batch 3 closes on 31 July, Batch 4 closes on 4 September and Batch 5 will close on 2 October.

“This process provides the opportunity to make sure Council policies provide clear information about what the community can expect in their interactions with Council and the way decisions are made.”

If submissions are received during the public exhibition period, they will be presented back to Council with staff recommendations before the final policy is adopted.

Council also adopted the recommendation to place the updated policy regarding Councillor expenses on public exhibition for 28 days.

Submissions on all policies will be accepted from the community for 42 days.

Batch 5 policies on public exhibition are:

  • Policy 1.09 Community Grants Program
  • Policy 4.16 Child safe organisation (new)
  • Policy 6.01 Governance
  • Policy 6.02 Behaviour of Councillors and Staff
  • Policy 6.03 Risk Management
  • Policy 6.04 Conditions of Employment
  • Policy 6.05 Work Health and Safety
  • Policy 6.06 Financial Management
  • Policy 6.07 Investments
  • Policy 6.11 Records Management
  • Policy 6.13 Organisational Service Standards
  • Policy 6.14 Use of Council Seal

The draft policies are available for review on Council’s Have Your Say webpage.

All adopted policies can be viewed on Council’s website.
