We understand that many impacted by drought, bushfires and now COVID-19 are struggling financially and finding it difficult to meet their financial commitments, including those to Council.
To help with this, Council has adopted a Financial Hardship Assistance procedure for the period from April 2020 to June 2021 which allows impacted ratepayers to apply for an interest free hardship payment plan. If you don't meet the criteria you have the option to apply for an extended payment arrangement which accrues interest. Details for both approaches can be found below.
If you would like more information or have any concerns, please put them in writing via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or via the post to PO Box 492, Bega NSW 2550.
There is a process to follow and a form to complete if you wish to apply to enter into a hardship assistance payment plan with Council for outstanding rates, water charges and sundry debtors. If your application meets the criteria you will be deemed eligible and will enter into an interest free payment plan with Council.
The online Hardship Assistance Form (below) asks you to provide supporting evidence of the impact of the drought, bushfires and/or COVID-19 on your ability to meet your financial commitments for services provided by Council.
If you are not eligible for a hardship assistance payment plan, we are willing to consider extended payment arrangements with customers with large accounts outstanding. It is important to note that your account will continue to accrue interest daily (at a rate of 6% per annum) until payment is finalised.
These agreements involve regular payments (weekly, fortnightly or monthly) via your preferred payment method.
If you wish to enter into an extended payment arrangement, please contact Council's authorised representatives, Recoveries & Reconstruction (Aust.) Pty Ltd on 1300 556 863.
