The Tathra Wharf restoration project has reached a significant milestone with Bega Valley Shire Council’s Heritage Application now available for community feedback through the Heritage Council of NSW.

Bega Valley Shire Council’s Project Services Manager, Daniel Djikic said the project aims to restore the wharf and building in accordance with heritage requirements, and improve safety and accessibility.

“The state heritage listed Tathra Wharf is an iconic part of our shire, but it needs to be repaired and restored so it can be enjoyed by future generations,” Mr Djikic said.

“Before we start the restoration work, we need to receive approval from the Heritage Council of NSW to ensure the project will meet their requirements.

“As part of this process, the Heritage Council of NSW is now inviting the community to review the proposal and provide written submissions. I’d encourage anyone who is interested in the preservation of this special part of our history to go to the Heritage Council’s website and take a look at the documentation.”

The Tathra Wharf Heritage Application and supporting documentation is available at www.heritage.nsw.gov.au/applications/state-heritage-items/have-your-say/

Printed copies of the documents are also available for viewing at Council’s customer service centre at Zingel Place in Bega.

Submissions can be made to the Heritage Council of NSW by COB 3 December via:
