Residents of the Bega Valley Shire are invited to take part in this year’s Garage Sale Trail, happening over two weekends on 9-10 November and 16-17 November 2024.

“This annual event offers local residents a chance to declutter the shed, earn extra cash and reduce waste heading to landfill,” Waste Education Officer, Ms Kruse said.

“The Garage Sale Trail is Australia’s largest sustainability event, encouraging reuse and recycling on a national scale.

“By signing up, participants can host their own garage sale or join others in the area. They can be anything from a small yard sale to a huge community car boot sale.

“The event is perfect for selling pre-loved anything, whether it’s vintage clothes, furniture, toys, collectibles, vinyl records or something unique.

“There’s pretty much no limit to what can be sold. For example, in 2017 the yacht from the film, The Great Gatsby went on sale at a Garage Sale Trail registered event.”

Ms Kruse said people can take advantage of being buyers and sellers because the event is held over two consecutive weekends.

“Clear a space in your wardrobe on the first weekend and fill it with vintage fashion gems picked up at garage sales on the second weekend,” she said.

“Last year the average takings at Garage Sale Trail events across Australia was nearly $500.

“Feel good about making some cash, feel even better about making a positive change for the community and environment, and get to know your neighbours.”

Registering your sale online is free and simple, and it includes promotional tools to help you attract buyers.
