Bega Valley Shire Council invites feedback on its updated Community Engagement Strategy, which provides the community with information on how they can engage and share their opinions on issues that affect their lives.
2 December 2024
Bega Valley Shire Council invites feedback on its updated Community Engagement Strategy, which provides the community with information on how they can engage and share their opinions on issues that affect their lives.
Director Business and Governance, Iliada Bolton said Council genuinely values effective community engagement, to better understand varied viewpoints, make better decisions, and offer services that meet the community's needs and goals.
“The 2024-28 Draft Community Engagement Strategy provides a commitment from Council the community will be well informed about issues and decisions that could affect their way of life and encourages them to make recommendations to Council,” Ms Bolton said.
“It clarifies how the community can have their say and how input will be used to inform Council’s decisions and actions.
“The draft strategy also integrates several of Council’s legislative requirements for community engagement into one document. These include requirements under the Local Government Act 1993 and Crown Land Management Act 2016.
“A draft Community Participation Plan (CPP) that clearly explains how people can engage with planning matters forms a subsection of the strategy. This CPP is a requirement of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979.”
The draft Community Engagement Strategy is available on Council’s website.
Feedback on the strategy can be submitted up to 28 February 2025 via email, post or an online form.
