Bega Valley Shire Council has engaged industry specialists, A1 Quality Concrete Tanks to demolish an existing drinking water reservoir servicing the Brogo-Bermagui water line and construct an improved concrete reservoir in its place.
Work is expected to commence in early April, ensuring further improvements in water security for residents connected to the northern water main.
This follows last year’s successful completion of the Brogo Water Treatment Plant, which significantly improved water security and quality.
The existing reservoir, built around 1985 as part of the town water system, has reached the end of its serviceable life and in recent years it has developed structural issues, including leaks.
Expert engineer assessments conducted in 2019 and 2020 confirmed the need for renewal.
The Brogo Balance Tank Two Renewal Project will deliver a modern concrete tank with an expected design life of 100 years.
Council has already completed bypass works to allow uninterrupted water supply during the construction phase.
Residents will be kept informed as construction begins. The new reservoir is expected to be operational by September, weather permitting.
