19 March 2024 (updated 8 April)

Bega Valley Shire Council advises road works will commence on Wallaga Lake Road on Wednesday 3 April and will take up to 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

With works scheduled for Wallaga Lake Road at the same time as the Wallaga Lake Bridge works, we are anticipating there will be less road users travelling through Wallaga Lake Road with many travellers already being diverted through Cobargo due to the bridge works.

Contractors will be stabilising and re-surfacing the road and installing kerb, gutter and drainage between Lake View Drive, Wallaga Lake and Fairhaven Point Way, Fairhaven.

Access to sections of the road will be restricted at different points in time and detours will be in place when required. Detours will be avoided where possible and if they do occur, they will be minor, intermittent and localised (near Wallaga Lake Heights).

A reduced speed limit and traffic control will be in place.

This project is funded by the Transport for NSW Regional Emergency Roads Repair Fund.

Once the drainage work is complete, contractors will establish a work site on the section of Wallaga Lake Road closer to Bermagui and reconstruct the road surface here also.

We will update the community with more information about these works once the drainage works are near completion.

Council thanks the community for their patience while these works are undertaken.
