There is still time to nominate a local volunteer for the amazing work they do in the community, with the deadline for the Bega Valley Medallion Award coming up on Monday 6 March.
Mayor, Kristy McBain said the Medallion Award is a great opportunity to publicly thank the hundreds of volunteers who give up their time for the wellbeing of others.
“It doesn’t matter if someone has been volunteering for one year or fifty. The fact is if someone has selflessly given up their time for others, then they deserve recognition with an award nomination.
“If you know someone who dedicates their time to helping the community then please nominate them, or better still, after you have nominated them, ask others to do the same.
“Volunteers are probably the last people in the world who would ask for thanks, but being unexpectedly recognised for your efforts can be a wonderful thing, and a real boost,” Cr McBain said.
Nominations are simple, just go to www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au > Community & Leisure > Community Support > Awards.
Nominations for a place on the Bega Valley Shire Community Service Medallion Committee are also closing on Monday 6 March.
The committee acts to make recommendations to Council, including reviewing nominations for the 2017 Medallion Award.
To register your interest in being part of the new Committee, or to enquire about the Medallion Award call Council's Events Coordinator, Tamara Whiting, on 02 6499 2222.
