Teams from Bega Valley Shire Council's works department have recently completed the upgrade of a number of sections of Towamba Road.
31 October 2017
Teams from Bega Valley Shire Council’s works department have recently completed the upgrade of a number of sections of Towamba Road.
The significant project included road realignment, widening problem areas, gravel re-sheeting and the reinstallation of guideposts and signage.
In addition Mitchells Creek Bridge was re-decked with concrete modules to improve its load capacity and 1km of bituminous sealing was undertaken on either side of the bridge.
The primary aims of the project were to enhance both the safety and ride characteristics of the road and generally improve the overall commuting experience between Eden and Towamba.
Council understands that this type of work causes local disruption and officers would like to thank the public for their continued patience throughout the project.
The civil construction team is now undertaking a road and drainage upgrade on Ocean Drive, Merimbula (adjacent to the Ford Park Courts) that will result in the installation of kerb, guttering, stormwater pits and pipes; the renewal of pavement; and additional car parking.
The pavement team have moved onto Candelo-Wolumla Road, where pavement renewal is being undertaken.
For any further information on any of these projects contact Council on 6499 2222.
