Nominations are open for the Bega Valley Shire’s 2021 Citizen, Young Citizen (under 25s) and Senior Citizen (over 65s) of the Year, Sportsperson of the Year and the Australia Day awards and close on 16 November 2020.
Council is calling on people to recognise the efforts of friends, neighbours, colleagues and family.
Bega Valley Shire Council Mayor, Russell Fitzpatrick said individuals are being sought for nominations from the community to recognise outstanding contributions.
“The awards are a great way to honour those who work hard to make our community a better place; those who quietly and selflessly help others. This year, in particular, we have seen people go above and beyond to support each other through adversity,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.
“It’s a highlight of the year to present these special awards to recognise outstanding achievers and community champions for their hard work and determination in enriching the social fabric of the Shire.”
The 2020 Awards recognised Joint Australia Day Local Award winners Jennie Keioskie and Clair Mudalier, Citizen of the Year Michele Bootes, Senior Citizen of the Year Colin Dunn, Sportsperson of the Year Kiarna Woolley-Blain and Young Citizen of the Year Kate Lewis.
Nominations for the 2021 awards should include information about a person’s service to the community or distinguished performance over the past 12 months.
