Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking feedback on changes to two policies currently on public exhibition.
18 September 2024
Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking feedback on changes to two policies currently on public exhibition.
The first policy, Payment of Expenses and Provision of Facilities to Councillors, relates to the reasonable and appropriate reimbursement of expenses and provision of facilities to Councillors, to help them undertake their civic duties.
Councillors must adopt the policy within the first 12 months of each term of Council, to ensure accountability and transparency and alignment of Councillor expenses and facilities with community expectations.
Council’s Investment Policy has been updated to allow Council to invest up to 70% of its funds with A-rated financial institutions, increased from the previous limit of 40%.
This follows changes in the Standard & Poor’s long-term credit ratings which came into effect in April. Council still maintains the maximum amount that can be invested with any single A-rated institution at 20% capped.
Feedback on both policies via an online form close on Sunday 28 October.
All media enquiries and interview requests are coordinated by Council's Communication and Events team under the adopted Communications Policy. To view this policy, visit Public Policies and search 'communications'.
To submit a media enquiry or to request an interview:
Councillors can be contacted directly for enquiries regarding decisions of the elected Council and non-operational matters. Interviews with the Mayor should be arranged through the Communication and Events team contact details above.
If you’re a journalist or media organisation that would like to receive media releases and notifications about media opportunities, please email your name, title and contact details to media@begavalley.nsw.gov.au and we will add you to our distribution list.
