Boomerang Bags Bega Valley Sapphire Coast
Boomerang Bags is a community driven initiative reducing plastic waste / pollution / Fossil Fuels / landfill
Boomerang Bags:
Dedicated community groups, schools, businesses and volunteers get together to make re-usable ‘Boomerang Bags’ using recycled or donated materials, which will be offered to shoppers to ‘Borrow and Bring Back’ instead of single-use plastic bags, which are on average used for only 12 minutes and then thrown away. Creating opportunities for Indigenous, Disadvantaged, Unemployed or Migrants to become involved in a meaningful activity, make friends, learn skills and up-cycle materials to be re-used and shared.
The project relies on the time and generosity of the local community.
You can help out by: Volunteer to help make BAGS! No sewing experience required - we teach. Sewing with us on Fridays 10am-2pm at the Bega Repair Café / Youth Space 91 Gipps St.
Donating 2nd-hand material e.g. men's ties, which can be made into bag handles. Plenty of other material already donated. Fabric available for other projects - just ask.
Spread the word - talk to your friends.
