Cobargo Quaama Business Recovery Group Inc. (CQBRG) is a not-for-profit, local led bushfire recovery group which formed in response to the 2019 / 2020 Black Summer Bushfire disaster, which destroyed a large part of Cobargo Village and devastated the surrounding region. CQBRG invites a broad representation from all businesses across Cobargo and District to have a unified voice for local needs in the recovery process. CQBRG has collaborated with a range of partners and organisations to deliver numerous bushfire recovery initiatives for the benefit of the local business community since 2020. Projects delivered include but not limited to: Business and Serivce Directory, Community Noticeboard, Vouchers to assist businesses in recovery and Cobargo Innovation Hub, a purpose built innovative building for recovering bushfire affected businesses / community groups, to regroup and continue trading in a supported environment in partnership with Business Council Australia, Cobargo Co-Operative Society Ltd. CQBRG successfully applied for funding through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery Funding stream State/Federal Governments, to rebuild and reinstate Cobargo's economic viability, consisting of 3 projects being Village Square, Market Hall, Post Office, plus 5 apartments and developed the legal entity to deliver the project on behalf of the Community being Cobargo Community Development Corporation Limited (CCDC Ltd) a not-for-profit special purpose Company, with the sole objective of delivering the Rebuild Cobargo Project, currently in progress.
