Bega River and Wetlands Landcare (BRAWL)
Bega River and Wetlands Landcare (BRAWL) are a group of volunteers working to rehabilitate a stretch of the Bega River and Spenco Lagoon. Erosion and severe weed invasion have degraded the River seeing a loss in habitat and river bank loss. Since BRAWL's establishment in 2006, the group has transformed the River, protecting the ancient, remnant River Oaks, controlling weeds and revegetating with native plants, stabilising river banks, reconnecting with the nearby Spenco Lagoon and creating a family-friendly recreational and picnic space.
