Pambula Beach Flexible School
9.30-2.30
Pambula Beach Flexible School supports young people who are disengaged from mainstream education.
Pambula Beach Flexible School provides an inclusive and non-discriminatory learning environment for young people who, for various reasons, are disenfranchised from mainstream education. Young People are enrolled from all genders, a variety of languages, cultural, and religious backgrounds, with sensitivity to Indigenous culture, and, at times, are from backgrounds of socio-economic disadvantage. Young People are exposed to learning experiences that develop an understanding and appreciation of the diverse cultural values that constitute Australian society.
Importantly, PBFS young people are encouraged to participate in the decision-making processes that affect the school community, their own lives, and the society in which they live. Learning is focused on the individual needs and abilities of young people, and progress is carefully documented and monitored. Our students, in conjunction with their Teachers and Youth Workers, draft personalised learning plans with articulated education pathways. Each of our classes functions as a small community led by a Teacher and Youth Worker partnership who facilitate learning options and support young people's wellbeing and social development.
Pambula Beach FS learning experiences strive to build self-confidence and esteem in young people, promote an optimistic view of their potentialities and future, and assist them to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling life.
