The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd
Varies depending on events. Generally open to the public one hour before performances.
The Twyford Hall Complex Ltd is a registered not-for-profit arts charity that manages The Twyford, a Performing & Visual Arts venue and community hall on the corner of Market and Beach Streets in Merimbula. The organisation manages the complex on behalf of the trustee. It is headed by a Board of Management and the venue is operated by professional staff. We welcome volunteers who would use their skills as ushers (see the show for free!), box office assistants or bar staff (RSA required). Training is provided for all roles. A Police Check and Working with Children Check may be required for some roles. First Aid/Apply CPR and Food Hygiene certificates or willingness to obtain are an advantage.
The Hall is a heritage-listed 170 seat brick building built in 1931, with a flat wooden floor auditorium and raised stage with inbuilt all-LED stage lighting and sound systems. Removable seating and rectangular folding tables are available for use. There are bar wall heaters for winter heating and ceiling fans for summer cooling. The space is used for art exhibitions, workshops, meetings, functions and small performances where dancing is possible. There is a full commercial kitchen and supper room adjacent to the Hall that can be hired for your catering needs. Please note the Twyford is fully licenced and Twyford RSA staff must be hired for alcohol service. The Hall is accessible via the main Market St entrance or the Beach St entrance, and there is a unisex accessible toilet and parent room available in addition to male and female toilets.
The Theatre is a raked seat proscenium arch theatre that seats up to 199 and opened in 2025. It has a 9m wide x 5m high arch and the stage is 7.4m in depth, with extensive wing spaces on both sides and a loading dock that leads directly onto both the Theatre and Hall backstages.
There is an Upper and Lower Dressing room each with lit mirrors, benches, chairs, clothing racks, shower, toilet and 2 handbasins. The Lower Dressing room and stages are wheelchair accessible via a ramp from the Market St Stage Door.
The Theatre Foyer and Auditorium are accessed by the public via stairs and a lift from inside the Market St main entrance.
The Foyer Bar/Cafe opened in 2025 operates before, during and after events and can be hired as its own function space when the Theatre is not in use. It can seat up to 50 people and can be used for launches, small functions, workshops and as a breakout space. The Bar is fully licenced and operated by The Twyford's RSA staff.
