Bermagui Library is holding two workshops on 3D printing at the end of June and early July.

Council’s Acting Library Coordinator, Sarah Morrison said interested people can see a 3D printer in action, find out how it works and what you can use it for.

“3D printers create three-dimensional objects by layering materials such as plastics, composites or biomaterials,” Ms Morrison said.

“Each workshop will give participants a practical demonstration to show how you can turn your ideas into reality, turning digital designs into physical objects.

“Workshop participants will gain an overview of 3D printing and learn about basic modelling tools for creating interesting and useful objects.

“You’ll find out about open-source software and online resources, such as Thingiverse, you can use at home to create your design before you download it to the library’s 3D printer.

“The workshops will be held in the newly opened Creative Space in Bermagui Library.”

Ms Morrison said later in the year, Bermagui Library will be running Sip and Sew workshops to help people learn practical sewing techniques on the library’s sewing machine and overlocker.

“If you have an idea for using our new Creative Space or you would like to volunteer to help support a Creative Space program, please pop into Bermagui Library or call us on 02 6499 2411 and chat with our staff about how we can make it happen,” she said.

3D Printing 101: Basics will be held from 12pm to 1pm on Friday 28 June and from 11am to 12pm on Saturday 6 July.

This is a free event for adults and children 6 years and over. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Book online at https://begavalley.events.mylibrary.digital or make a phone booking on (02) 6499 2411.
