Library and Information Week starts today and this year Bega Valley residents can win a prize when they join any shire library.
Library Coordinator, Yvette Parker said Council’s libraries, in Bega, Bermagui, Tura Beach and Eden, are running a membership drive throughout August, with prizes on offer to people who sign up for a membership card.
“Although nearly a quarter of the shire’s residents are library members, we want the other three quarters of our population to know that library membership is free and there’s more to libraries than books,” Ms Parker said.
“The Library and Information Week theme is Roots of Democracy, which reminds us that libraries play a significant role in providing free access to a range of trusted sources of information,” Ms Parker said.
“Library members can access sourced and trusted information on any subject from our 17 online databases covering a myriad of topics, including news, science, literature and health.
“Everyone in the Bega Valley is welcome to join their nearest library and access the range of books, information and other services on offer.
“If you join in August, you’ll go in the draw to win the weekly $30 book voucher, so just bring some photo identification with you to any library and sign up.”
