Bega Valley Shire Council is pleased to inform the restricted access at Tathra Wharf due to the restoration project will be eased over the Christmas/New Year period, commencing today.

Council’s project manager, David Buckley said for the shutdown period, the contractor has reduced the compound size and the site fencing has been adjusted to improve public access to the museum, café, the completed section of wharf and the headland walk circuit.

“The existing vehicle access constraints on Wharf Road will remain,” Mr Buckley said.

“The restoration works will recommence on Monday 15 January and site access and fencing will be adjusted to ensure safe public access adjacent to the work site.”

The wharf restoration works are scheduled to be completed in May 2024.

The Tathra Headland Walkway storm damage repairs works are anticipated to start in early February 2024, and will take approximately 3 months.

Project Manager Mark Baker said while these works are being undertaken, the walkway will have limited access.

“The public will have access to the main timber viewing platform from Lions Park, however the walkway will be blocked off below the platform for the duration of the work,” Mr Baker said.

“The public will still be able to access the Wharf from the Wharf Road.”
