Bega Valley Shire Council’s libraries have a number of fun, free activities planned for young people aged 12 to 18 during the upcoming spring school holidays.
Library Services Coordinator, Yvette Parker said the fun starts at the Bermagui Library on Monday 30 September from 10.30am to 11.30am with the Build Your Own Wooden Bird Feeder workshop.
“This hands-on event is perfect for young people to learn basic woodworking skills while creating a unique bird feeder,” Ms Parker said.
“Bermagui Mitre 10 staff will demonstrate and teach the participants how to measure, cut and assemble the pieces in this fun, educational experience that combines creativity and craftsmanship.
“All materials and tools are provided, and participants will have the opportunity to paint and decorate their creations.”
The Library Unleashed outreach program features the Remote-Controlled Car Challenge.
This is where kids can build a cardboard obstacle course that remote controlled cars can travel over, under and through, and then test out each other’s courses. Success is getting the cars through the course.
The Wired Up – Sew it or Tune it with Circuitry session combines technology with craft skills and music to create unique items and have fun. Simple and safe circuitry will be used to sew a textile item that lights up. Then we explore creating music with circuitry.
All activities are free and can be booked online or by calling the Bega Valley Shire Library on 6499 2127.
