The Sapphire Coast stood tall at last night’s gala awards presentation for the region’s tourism operators.
Around 240 people attended the glittering South Coast Tourism Awards at the Historical Aviation Restoration Society Museum at Illawarra Airport in Albion Park.
The evening drew tourism operators and businesses from Shellharbour to Eden, with guests seated under and around an amazing array of historic aircraft including the constellation ‘Connie’.
Gold awards were handed to nine different Bega Valley operators, business and events:
“There is such great comradery among operators along the Sapphire Coast, we see our future success as connected to each other, it’s a great industry to be a part of,” said Jenny Robb, Kiah Wilderness Tours.
Locals also walked away with a number silver and bronze awards.
Anthony Osborne, Executive Officer, Sapphire Coast Tourism said the standard of entries was high and demonstrated the diversity, depth and breadth of the local tourism industry.
“The professionalism around our local offerings continues to go ahead in leaps and bounds, the Sapphire Coast now competes with distinction in a global market,” Mr Osborne said.
Bega Valley Mayor Kristy McBain congratulated the winners as they prepare for the region’s peak tourist time.
“The value of tourism to the Bega Valley economy is over $350 million annually, Council’s investment in tourism is critical in taking that further,” Cr McBain said.
“This positivity in our local industry will lead to prosperity for all our local businesses!”
