Bega Valley Shire Council has just been advised that the New Buildings Road Bridge over the Towamba River is to be closed at short notice.

NSW Roads and Maritime Services will close the bridge within the next 24 hours following routine inspections.

The RMS managed bridge, at the corner of Big Jack Mountain Road and New Buildings Road is expected to be closed for 6 to 8 weeks in order for urgent repairs to be carried out.

A suitable detour is being worked on now to minimise the impact on residents.

Further information will be provided as soon as possible, but in this first instance Council was keen to provide and ‘heads up’ for residents.

Updates will be provided through local media, Council’s website and Facebook page and via Roads and Maritime Services.
