Council operating hours over Christmas and New Year period
Bega Valley Shire Council will close at 3pm on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and reopen at 9am on Thursday 2 January 2025.

Bega Valley Shire Council will close at 3pm on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and reopen at 9am on Thursday 2 January 2025.
Customer Service phones will be diverted to our after-hours service during this time.
Libraries:
All shire libraries will close at 1pm on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and reopen at 10am on Thursday 2 January 2025. After-hours returns bins at all libraries will remain open.
Children’s Services:
Sapphire Mobile Preschool, Bandara and Eden Early Learning Centres will close on Thursday 19 December 2024.
Bandara and Eden Early Learning Centres will reopen on Tuesday 14 January 2025 for long day care.
Sapphire Mobile Preschool, Bandara and Eden Early Learning Centres will reopen on Monday 3 February 2025 for state-funded Preschool.
Pools:
Council-managed swimming pools (Sapphire Aquatic Centre Pambula, Bega War Memorial, Bemboka, Candelo and Eden) will close at 5pm on Tuesday 24 December and reopen on Friday 27 December 2024.
These pools will be open from 10am to 5pm on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1 January 2025).
Cobargo swimming pool will close at 3.30pm on Tuesday 24 December and re-open on Boxing Day (26 December) from 1pm to 5pm. On New Year’s Eve (Tuesday 31 December 2024) it will be open from 10am to 5pm and from 12pm to 5pm on New Year’s Day (Wednesday 1 January 2025).
There will be no early morning swimming hours at Candelo and Eden swimming pools between Christmas and New Year.
Other than above, normal hours apply. Please check with your local pool to confirm hours or changes to schedules during this period.
Waste services:
All Waste and Recycling Centres will close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. Cleanaway kerbside collection will continue as normal.
SECCA (South East Centre for Contemporary Art):
SECCA will close on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. On Tuesday 24 December 2024, it will close at 1pm.
Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre:
he Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre will close at 3pm on Tuesday 24 December 2024 and reopen at 9am on Thursday 2 January 2025.
