Bega Valley Shire Council is calling for expressions of interest from people wanting to improve inclusiveness and accessibility in the local area.

The EOI is aimed at community members and people working in the business, disability and tourism sectors, to join Council’s Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee (AIAC).

Acting General Manager, Anthony Basford, said the strategic level committee plays an important role in connecting Council operations with community awareness.

“Council is mindful of the need to improve inclusiveness and accessibility for people who live and visit the Shire, and we are looking for people who want to work with us to achieve this goal,” Mr Basford said.

The AIAC’s responsibilities include:

  • Identifying and reporting access and inclusion issues that require attention and liaising with key stakeholders.
  • Providing advice and recommendations on major Council projects that impact on access and inclusion matters.
  • Overseeing the Access and Inclusion Improvement Grants program, including making recommendations to Council.

Information about the AIAC Guidelines and application form are available on www.begavalley.nsw.gov.au. The information can also be obtained by contacting Katrina Berenguer on 6499 2358.

The committee will meet four times a year, and the term will finish in June 2021. EOIs close at 4pm on Friday 10 March 2017. Submit applications to:
