There's lots happening across the whole Shire for Seniors Festival 2020. Here are the events proudly supported by the Bega Valley Shire Council's community grants program.

High Tea Under the Sea
Explore Twofold Bay in the underwater film ‘Through the Garden of Eden’. Followed by a homemade high tea and a game of Bingo ending with the exhibits of the Marine Discovery Centre.

Staying Alive - Emergency Action Planning
Experience life-saving technologies and techniques, with the local Fire Brigade, Police and State Emergency Services. Learn how to prepare for a natural/unnatural disaster; use technology to help you survive; build an emergency response network, and to make an emergency action plan. Entertainment by the Wobbles Ukulele Orchestra.

Make a Terrarium
Learn how to create your own beautiful miniature garden in a glass container. Terrariums are low maintenance and look great on a table or window sill. All materials are provided however participants may wish to bring along a small ornament or gemstone of their own for a personal touch.

Demonstration of the card game ‘Bridge’ 
See the most popular card game in the world in action! Bridge is a challenging game requiring strategy, logic and memorisation of complex rules. If you like what you see, you might like to join the social Bega Valley Bridge Club who meet three times a week!

Past It? No Way! Seniors Filmmaking Workshop 
Learn how to make a short film using digital devices with Far South Film tutors Hiromi Matsuoka and Lis Shelley. Bring your own device or use the available equipment. Tell YOUR story! And perhaps enter your film in the Far South Film Festival in August 2020.

Ukulele Singalong and morning tea
U3A Ukulele Group The Amazing Greys are sure to get everyone’s feet taping. Come along to sing up a storm and have a hoot of a good time. We will also be serving a delicious morning tea after the event.

Chair yoga is a form of yoga practiced sitting on a chair, or standing using a chair for support. Suitable for people who experience some mobility or balance issues. Chair Yoga is perfect for increasing strength and flexibility while helping to ease stress and fatigue.

Craftivism. Dissident Objects and Subversive Forms, Exhibition opening
Presents the work of 18 contemporary Australian artists who utilise craft based materialities with a political intent. Broadening our understanding of craft-making traditions, the artists in this exhibition subvert and extend these forms into the realm of activism and social change, reflecting on the world in which we live.

Yarnbombing the Panboola Landscape 
Learn how to use knitting, crochet and other textiles skills to decorate established trees and infrastructure at Panboola. Work on your creations after the event, and in early April, they will be installed, decorating the wetland landscape and contributing to the annual Panboola arts festival scheduled for Easter 2019.

Get to know the town of EDEN 
Join an experienced tour guide for a recreational and cultural tour of Eden by bus. Stopping at places of local significance, discover some hidden gems, hear how Eden was named, and share your own experiences and memories.

Introduction to Android Tablets
Owning a tablet means you really can take your computer with you wherever you go. Learn how to navigate the web, learn the differences between a PC and a tablet and how the two can work together. You’ll also learn how to start up programs on your tablet, connect wirelessly to the internet and how to navigate using a virtual keyboard.

Bermagui to Boydtown – A tour of the Sapphire Coast
An event filled day trip down the Sapphire Coast, starting at Bermagui, stopping at the historical and scenic Seahorse Inn, Boydtown, and followed by lunch in Eden.

Tai Chi for Arthritis
Join Maureen Ryan from Pambula Community health Centre for a session of gentle relaxing exercise. Tai Chi is one of the most effective forms of exercise for health and wellness. Tai Chi for Arthritis is part of a falls prevention program run by Southern NSW Local Health District.

Origami and Tea
Join us for a stress free and slow paced session of craft and socialising. Origami is the ancient art of paper folding. We will sit down together and create some beautiful and surprisingly easy Origami objects including a crane and a magpie while enjoying a chat and a cup of refreshing herbal tea (or black) tea.

Introduction to Archery 
Try your hand at Archery! Start the day with warm-up and stretching, followed by archery instruction and a demonstration of associated archery crafts. Finish by sharing your experiences over a sausage sizzle.

A back to the ‘60s morning in Merimbula, Bega and Bermagui
A combination of familiar 1960s music by local musician Sam Stervenson, and an overview of the most defining aspects of the important and history-making 1960s, presented by Merv Bendle, a retired Lecturer in History and Communications. Morning tea provided.
