A pocketful of poets at Bega library
Four local poets will come together to provide an entertaining hour of poetry and launch their recent publications at the Bega library on Saturday 26 May from 10.00am.

Four local poets will come together to provide an entertaining hour of poetry and launch their recent publications at the Bega library on Saturday 26 May from 10.00am.
Tim Metcalf, Nance Cookson, Ian McFarlane and Linda Albertson are all represented in the Wagtail or Pocket Poet’s invitational series from Ginninderra Press with the publication of poetry chapbooks.
At 28 pages, chapbooks are designed to fit into a business envelope, are reasonably priced and make a thoughtful gift.
Library Programs and Partnerships Officer, Scott Baker said that the library is pleased to support local creative talent.
“Our Shire is bursting with people with many different talents and we’re always happy to provide a space in our libraries to support that creative endeavour,” he said.
Tim Metcalf is an award-winning internationally-published poet. His anthology, ‘Verbal Medicine’, won the ACT Writing and Publishing Awards in 2007. His ninth collection, Red Song of the Red Earth, will be out later this year.
Nance Cookson is a long-term member of the Writers of the Far South Coast. She has had a number of books published by Ginninderra Press, including her collected poems ‘Just for the Record’. A prolific writer across several genres, Nance’s poetry is known for its brevity and wit. Her chapbooks are ‘Upon Retirement’ and ‘The Racquet’.
Ian McFarlane is an award-winning author, essayist and critic and someone who is sustained by poetry. For many years, he was a literary critic for The Canberra Times.
Linda Albertson’s chapbook, ‘Overdue’, was published as part of the Ginninderra Press Picaro Poets series in 2016.
Everyone is welcome to come and meet the poets over morning tea and listen to their readings.
