Bega Valley Shire Council has continued its commitment to funding local events and activities held during next year’s National Youth Week.
Grant applications are now open and local community groups are invited to apply for a share of $5000 donated from Council.
Council’s Youth Community Development Coordinator, Anne Cleverley said thousands of young people got behind last year’s National Youth Week.
“National Youth Week is an annual, week-long celebration of young people (aged 12–25) throughout Australia and in 2016 it will be celebrated from Friday 8 April to Sunday 17 April 2016.
“We’re looking for new and creative ideas that promote positive images of young people,” she said.
To qualify for a grant there is a requirement that young people be actively involved in the planning and delivery of the NYW activities.
Examples of previously funded initiatives include, Indigenous youth workshops, film projects, art workshops, dance parties, theatre performances and awareness campaigns aimed at young people.
Non-profit organisations need to be incorporated associations or be auspiced by one. There is $5,000 available for distribution and applications will be considered for projects up to $1,000.
Applications must be received before 5pm on Friday 8 January 2016 and successful organisations will be notified in February 2016.
