Council urges the community to be compassionate as restrictions come into effect across regional NSW

MEDIA RELEASE 2021 - Council is urging the community to adhere to the NSW Government’s recent advice to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including the introduction of masks in all indoor non-residential settings and limits to the number of visitors at home.

Masks are compulsory in regional nsw.27 June 2021

Bega Valley Shire Council is urging the community to adhere to the NSW Government’s recent advice to help stop the spread of COVID-19, including the introduction of masks in all indoor non-residential settings and limits to the number of visitors at home.

Mayor Russell Fitzpatrick said that while the restrictions may cause some inconvenience, it is critical that we all play our part to stop the spread and keep our community safe.

“While this is another blow for our community, we all need to play our part to keep each other safe,” Cr Fitzpatrick said.

“Please wear a mask while you’re in a shop or other indoor venue, check in using the QR code, maintain physical distancing, and importantly, self-isolate and get tested if you feel unwell, even with the mildest of symptoms.

“Our hospitality, retail, community services and support, and tourism staff, and our essential services workers, are doing their best to keep the community safe as they implement these new restrictions, but they need your help—please be kind if they remind you of the latest restrictions—they are just trying to keep everyone safe.

“We also need to be aware that the restrictions can impact our mental wellbeing, so please check in with your friends and family, in a COVIDSafe way of course, and reach out if you need support.”
