Bega Valley Shire Council will soon begin construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Reid Street and Merimbula Drive.
The roundabout will provide a safer intersection for road users travelling to and from Merimbula via the Princes Highway and Sapphire Coast Drive.
Council’s Group Manager for Transport and Utilities, Wayne Sartori said the construction period will involve intermitent closures and detours.
“This is the next phase of the Merimbula bypass project,” he said.
“The roundabout will provide a safer connection to Merimbula’s major entry points from Bega and the northern coastal route.
“It’s a major project with a lot of work already complete through the modification of underground services in preparation for the roundabout and bypass.
“Roundabout construction will commence on Monday 15 June 2015 and, weather permitting it will take about six weeks to complete,” Mr sartori said.
Works will take place from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm.
The intersection will be under traffic control with intermitent closures and detours in place when required.
