Have your say on Council's Operational Plan and financial information

Have your say on Council's future plans, projects, operational plan and budgets, fees and charges, and revenue policy.

Please note: Council IS NOT increasing rates by 35% from 1 July this year.

If a Special Rate Variation (SRV) does get introduced, it would not commence until 1 July 2023.

More work is to be carried out before then, including refining the SRV scenarios, revisiting service mix options, more community consultations and Council discussion and decision points.

A key document is the Draft Delivery Program 2022-25 and Operational Plan 2022-23, which details what we do, how much it costs and how many staff provide each service.

Another key document is the Draft Resourcing Strategy 2022-25, which contains the Long Term Financial Plan and SRV scenarios (from p7).

Importantly, an SRV increase to general rates would not apply to water, sewer and waste charges.

The Bega Valley Community Strategic Plan 2042 and Council’s Delivery Program and Operational Plan provide the roadmap for our shire. They set the direction over the next year and beyond, and together, will lead us into the future. These key documents are supported by our Resourcing Strategy, and Fees and Charges.

We are pleased to present these draft planning documents to the community for review and feedback. They outline how your rates and Council resources will be used, and we know there is a lot to consider. Copies of each document are available under the Documents on exhibition section on this webpage, and hard copies are available for review at our customer service reception in Bega and our libraries across the shire.

We welcome your feedback and if you have any questions, please reach out through one of the channels listed below.

We also have some handy FAQ’s below.
